HOW IS A CSA BOX LIKE A LINKY PARTY? A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME...#6

Welcome to "A Little Birdie Told Me..." Tuesday!
If you're here to share a craft, recipe or project post, you'll find the linky and the specifics on how to strut your stuff  just after the features below.

This past week, Wendy of "The Local Cook" shared a recipe for Roasted Parsnips with Balsamic Vinegar and Rosemary, which she was inspired to make when she received parsnips in her vegetable box subscription.

If you've visited Rook No. 17 for "A Little Birdie Told Me..." in the past, you'll know that each week I visit each of the participants who've linked up, then decide on a theme for the weekly spotlights based on some commonality that organically emerges from the latest crop of entries.  So Wendy's story about her parsnips got me thinking that in many ways, a linky party is very much like a CSA box (Community Supported Agriculture vegetable boxes are subscription based deliveries of seasonal produce from local farmers) -- You never know what you're going to get, but you can always count on quality, freshness, and the opportunity to learn new things!

So, what did the harvest bring in this week?

A Little Birdie Told Me...

...there was Nostalgia in the Nest

Ellen from Creative Passage had me feeling nostalgic for the days when my girls were little.  I loved dressing them in sweet little onsie-topped dresses. You can read about her project and find the link for the tutorial HERE.

Then, Sharon from Elizabeth & Co. shared a wonderful tutorial for refinishing and glazing a dresser, just perfect for a nursery and to house all those precious little dresses!

Morgan from Snapshots shared some of her childhood nostalgia about an incredible sounding place called Casa Bonita in Denver ("...cliff divers, a haunted cave... and the never-ending supply of sopapillas!").  And she had me waxing sentimental over my mom's homemade Chile Rellenos with her delicious double-feature of Chile Relleno Casserole  and Tortilla Torte HERE.

For as long as I can remember, I've been borderline obsessed with sandwiches, so when I saw the "Ultimate Chicken & Pesto Sandwich" at "The Life & Times of the 21st Century Housewife", I knew I was in for a treat!  By keeping a few simple ingredients on hand, you can enjoy these versatile and delicious gourmet sandwiches any time and in just minutes!

Thanks Jenn! What a treat to be found here on your site! Yes ... Casa Bonita is still around. Every time the fam heads to Denver, my hubby and I think we should take them, but we have yet to make the trip downtown. Hmmm ... maybe it's time!
