Slow Food and Slow Crafts - A Little Birdie Told Me....No. 23

We downloaded the PocketBooth app
and enjoyed our own retro photo booth
down by the river!

"Slow down and enjoy life.  It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast.  You also miss the sense of where you are going and why."
~Eddie Cantor

Welcome to
"A Little Birdie Told Me..." Tuesday!
If you're here to share a craft, recipe or project post,
you'll find the linky and the specifics on how to
join the party after the features below.

Today I said sayonara to the laundry pile,
turned my back on a stack of papers
and blew a raspberry at my computer.

I packed up the kids, a few of their friends,
a basket full of sandwiches,
and spent the day by the river.

There's a lot to be said for taking it slow,
doing it "the old fashioned way"
and for simple pleasures...

Simple pleasures like a fresh fruit salsa...

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Pita Chips from Shugary Sweets
...sharing a bowl of hearty seafood chowder on a cold coastal day...

Quality ingredients, love and time went in to the
Seafood Chowder from Culinary Adventures with Camilla
...Treating yourself to a spa experience with just 3 simple ingredients...

Homemade Salt Scrub from Snowflakes & Dragonflies

...or taking the time to create something without short-cuts or fancy equipment...

BBQ Themed Appliqued Dish Towels from The Silly Pearl
If you've been featured
(this week, or in a previous week)
feel free to grab a "featured on" button
from the sidebar.

Now it's time to link-up and share your creativity!

2)  LINK-UP -- Link-up the URL of a specific post -- craft, recipe, DIY project, or anything else you'd like to show-off.  This is not  a place to advertise merchandise you are selling.  If you're interested in promoting your business with Rook No. 17, please visit the "Advertising" section.

3)  POST THE BUTTON OR A LINK-- Grab the code for the button (below) and paste it into your sidebar or the body of your post.

4)  VISIT the 2 LINKS BEFORE YOURS --  Linky parties only work if we all do our part to support and encourage one another.

1) click your cursor in the code box,
2) right-mouse click and "Select All",
3) right-mouse click and select Copy.
4) Paste the code into your sidebar or post.

UPDATE:  I'm using the new LinkyTools feature that puts your link-up first, rather than last.  This way, everyone gets a turn to be "first".

  1. Hey Jenn, Thanks for the shoutout! Sounds like one of those amazing days- I love blowing raspberries at the computer :)

  2. Sometimes it feels great to have a day like that where you can forget everything you have to do and just kick back and have fun!

  3. Thanks for the feature on my seafood chowder. It WAS tasty. I think everyone came back for seconds. Thanks, also, for always hosting this linky party. It gives me such great ideas. xoxo Camilla

  4. Thank you so much for hosting :D Have a great week.

  5. Jenn, it's always a pleasure to join your party!

  6. The river looks so nice! Thank you for hosting!

  7. Your day at the river looks like a lot of fun! I'm a huge fan of simple pleasures. Summer is just full of them, too. Backyard bbq's, swimming, stargazing, bonfires, jumping in puddles, watching butterflies....I could go on and on.

  8. Those pictures are wonderful Jenn! I love linking my projects here every week, thanks for hosting...

  9. Thanks for hosting this great party! I love linking every week!

  10. The river looks perfect...I need to shut everything off and head out there asap!

  11. How did I not know about this party!? Going forward, I'm in. I linked up.

Your day at the river looks fab, and I love that you blew a raspberry at your computer.

  12. That looks like the perfect summer day!!! I have to check out that pocketbooth app!! Ok, you might want to delete the extra 2 links that I added...I didn't see it at the bottom and thought my computer was giving me issues. Apparently it was my eyes giving me problems. Sorry:-)

  13. Jenn, thanks so much for including my towels among your features, as well as the kind comment you left on my post! I loved making the appliques by hand...though if someone wanted to give me a fancy machine I wouldn't complain! :-P Hope you are having a good week and thanks for sharing your fun family pics!
