Lalaloopsy Birthday Cake -- Sew Cute!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of designing and making a birthday cake for my friend Holly's daughter's 4th birthday. The birthday girl chose a Lalaloopsy theme. If you're not yet aquainted with Lalaloopsy, they're a line of whimsical dolls that take a modern twist on the classic rag doll. Their slogan is "Sew Magical, Sew Cute!".

So, here she is, my interpretation of a Lalaloopsy doll in cake and krispie treats:

Her head and body were made from Rice Krispie treats covered in rolled fondant.

Her legs, clothes and hair were made from rolled fondant.
The "stitches" were made from royal icing.

Here she is at the party!

And here she is with the adorable birthday girl!!

There were cupcakes for the kids that had a fondant flower
and black button on top.

Inside the cake:  Raspberry Velvet layered with cream cheese icing..
Yummy!

You are so rad. Did you go to school to learn this or learn on your own? I've seen some of the other amazing cakes you've done. Obviously, you can't learn your creativity or talent, but I'm sure you've practiced or learned tips from somewhere, right? A. MA. Zing. (And thanks for getting the Lalaloopsy jingle into my head!)
